Slip Sliding Away!
Our sold-out tour of beautiful New Zealand is progressing very well indeed. After a six years absence Kiwi audience members old and new are embracing the group with open arms. We thank them for their hospitality.
As always, we like to seek out opportunities for a little recreation on our days off. New Zealand prides itself as being one of the prime recreation destinations in the world, particularly for outdoor and extreme sports. Bungy, of course was invented here. Being a little colder than Australia it’s also a great spot for winter sports, so we thought we’d try our hand at curling.
Our good friends at the Dunedin Ice Stadium were very helpful, particularly Hans van Leeuwen and Edwin Hurley, who were kind enough to prepare the rink and coach us in the finer points. Ed informed us he was the New Zealand National team’s coach for nine years so we figured he probably knew a thing or two. Out on the ice, he had us sliding and sweeping like pros. Of course, no TTT outing is complete without a few people falling over and at one point or another everyone found themselves flat out on the ice. Ed’s tip: “fall like a banana” so you don’t crack your head. Coming from Queensland we understood this implicitly and no-one was hurt.
It was enormous fun. Thanks boys.
